The U16M blends the low power SoC advantage of the M2 with the integrated (all-in-one) look of the U19V. This revolutionary product has been created with the philosophy that less is more. At 18W, it is the least power consuming desktop computer in the market. It also features the lowest size and weight for any desktop. The U16L is thus ideally suited for rural sites that depend on solar power. It also serves well as a portable computer lab that is moved from village to village in a small vehicle.

The U16M’s powerful x86 processor can seamlessly connect to Windows and Linux servers using the RDP, X11 and VNC protocols. Web based remote monitoring and management are bundled within the Linux based firmware of the thin client.

The U16M is a completely legacy free device. It is a true “zero client” – the thin client has been blended into a standard LCD display. It can easily be VESA mounted, freeing up valuable desk space.

Solutions for the Networked Client

Developers have always sought for new and innovative ways to take their applications to their users. For far too long, Windows based PCs and thin clients were the only client side systems available. Cloud computing has changed all that. With the ubiquity of the Internet and mobile devices, user expectations have completely transformed. Thinvent helps you reach your applications to this new generation of users.

Our software products have been devised with your needs in mind:

How can we rapidly deploy applications nationwide?

How does one interact with a plethora of client side peripherals, when using server side computing?

How do we monitor and manage this vast network of disparate devices?

How can different teams like network, hardware, data centre and application development, work together to rapidly resolve customer issues.

I can maintain server uptime at my data centre, but how to I deliver uptime in the field? Can server side applications be delivered on the clients, even when the network is unavailable? How do we synchronise data in such scenarios?

By resolving the above problems, we have enabled numerous government projects to scale to the farthest corners of the country.

Thinvent is proud to introduce the smallest and most cost effective thin client in the Indian marketplace. Weighing 300 grams and occupying only 400ml of space, the M2 is easily mounted behind any LCD monitor. While it consumes less than 4 watts of electricity, its powerful ARM processor can seamlessly connect to Windows and Linux servers using the RDP, X11 and VNC protocols. Web based remote monitoring and management are bundled within the Linux based firmware of the MicroClient.

Update: The M2 is out of stock as of April 2010. We will be relaunching it in August 2010 with enhanced specifications.

Digital Screen Technology

Thinvent has created revolutionary new technology that tightly binds together the display panel and the computer mainboard to create an integrated digital display. These all-in-one units form the building block of your next product, whether it is an interactive kiosk, digital signage, thin client, low cost computer or educational device.

LCD sizes – 7″ to 42″ diagonal

Processor – 300 MHz ARM+DSP to Atom Dual Core 1.6 GHz

RAM and flash – configurable. Soldered on board for robustness.

Power Supply – DC 12V (directly powered from external brick, solar charger or battery) or 230V AC (directly powered from wall socket).

Backlight – LED or CCFL

Optional integrated peripherals – Touchscreen, speakers, HDD.

Optional external peripherals – Biometric scanner, keypad, breath analyser, smart card reader, thermal printer, bar code scanner, magnetic swipe reader, LED display, cash and coin handlers, etc.

Laptops are fragile, portable and essentially personal devices. PCs are power hungry, large, and complex to install and maintain. In contrast, Thinvent’s Digital Screens are robust equipment built for constant use in tough environments. Coupled with the Thinux OS and API, they give your application the power of “build once, deploy many”. Our flagship customers are already enjoying the fruits of this scalability.

Digital signage is a form of electronic display that shows information, advertising and other messages. Digital signs (such as LCD, LED, plasma displays, or projected images) can be found in public and private environments, such as retail stores and corporate buildings. The benefits of digital signage over traditional static signs are that the content can be exchanged more easily, animations can be shown, and the signs can adapt to the context and audience, even interactively. Digital signage also offers superior return on investment compared to traditional printed signs.

Thinvent provides hardware and software specifically tailored to the needs of digital signage systems. Our digital signage firmware comes pre-installed with a multimedia codecs, utilities and remote management solutions. This technology helps customers create digital signage products with minimal development time and effort.

Scalability

In digital signage, the field hardware varies from project to project. Each codec performs differently on these different platforms. Thinvent helps you find the best hardware for your needs, and optimises your content delivery system. Our embedded API enables you to simultaneously display the same content on multiple hardware architectures ranging from ARM to Atom, and screen sizes ranging from 10″ to 42″.

Integrated Hardware

Our Digital Screen hardware integrates the display panel, mainboard, and associated power supplies and cabling, within the TV chassis. The signage thin client is no longer outside the display. This greatly simplifies installation, and eliminates safety issues related to the hardware and cabling. If the connectivity is wireless, only a power connection is required. Otherwise, the Ethernet cable or USB drive directly plugs into the TV chassis.

Content Management

Thinvent supports numerous mechanisms for content management, including push, pull, and pen drive based updation of playlists. These are described in detail in the documents below.
