Modelled thermal performance and sustained processor power of the Thinvent Aero Mini PC
Will the Aero Mini PC run on your office desk, reception counter or classroom table?
All-day base power: The Aero with Intel Core i5-1240P runs continuously at its 28 W base power across 15 to 50 °C rooms. This stays above the 20 W minimum assured power in still air. Continuous processor power reaches 51 W in a 15 °C room and 30 W in a 50 °C room.
How warm the body gets: At 28 W, the hottest spot on the outer steel body reaches 43 °C in a 25 °C room. At the 28 W base rating in a 35 °C room, the outer steel body reaches 53 °C. The processor runs at 82 °C in a 35 °C room at 28 W, below its 100 °C limit.
Short turbo bursts and heavy loads: The Core i5-1240P boosts up to its 64 W maximum turbo rating for short bursts. Under a continuous load that needs more power, the processor lowers its power consumption to stay at its 100 °C limit.
Desk placement and vents: The 60 mm internal fan draws air through the top vent and exhausts warm air through the side vents. Stand the computer on an open desk or counter and keep the top and side vents uncovered.
Sustained processor power across room temperatures
With the computer standing on a desk in still air, continuous processor power includes heat from the rest of the board. The Intel Core i5-1240P runs continuously at 51 W in a 15 °C room and 30 W in a 50 °C room. At those power levels, the processor reaches its 100 °C limit. Continuous power stays above the 28 W base rating and 20 W minimum assured rating across 15 to 50 °C rooms. The 64 W maximum turbo rating is for short bursts.
Hottest outer surface by processor power and room temperature
Steady outer steel surface temperatures at the hottest point for 20 W to 64 W loads in 25 to 45 °C rooms. Under a load that needs more power, the processor lowers its power consumption to stay at its 100 °C limit.
Hottest outer surface against processor power
In still air across 45, 35 and 25 °C rooms, the hottest outer surface temperature rises linearly with processor power. Continuous processor power stops increasing where the processor reaches its 100 °C limit.
