Desktop PCs with Linux Preinstalled: What to Know
A desktop with Linux preinstalled ships with an operating system already set up, so the buyer does not need to install one. Thinvent has its industrial PCs, mini PCs, thin clients and panel PCs with Ubuntu Linux installed. Each model in this range is listed with Ubuntu Linux as its operating system.
Linux runs on a wide range of processors. Lightweight distributions run on modest hardware, while full desktop distributions such as Ubuntu need more memory and storage. Linux hardware requirements depend on the distribution and on the work the system does. A basic desktop needs a single-core or dual-core CPU and at least 2 GB of RAM. Video editing, gaming and server tasks need more cores, more memory and faster storage.

Choosing a Model
For light office work and web browsing, the Neo S Thin Client and the 15" Industrial Panel PC use entry-level Intel processors. For multitasking and general desktop work, the Aero Mini PC and the Treo Mini PC with a Ryzen 5 7430U provide six cores. For heavier workloads, the IPC5 Industrial PC uses an Intel Core i7-1255U with ten cores and up to 64 GB of memory. The IPC5 with 64 GB of RAM is the only model on this page with both Dual LAN and Dual Band WiFi.
The Thinvent range has no model with a Core Ultra or a discrete graphics card. Buyers who need those features will not find them in this range.
