What Is an HDMI Port on a CPU?
An HDMI port is not built into the CPU itself. The processor generates the video signal, and the HDMI port is a connector on the motherboard or the system's I/O panel that carries that signal to a display. In compact and industrial computers, the processor's integrated graphics handle HDMI output, so the processor model determines the display capabilities of the system.
How Processors Drive HDMI Output
Integrated graphics in Intel and AMD processors support HDMI output without a separate graphics card. The processor's core count, maximum frequency and cache size affect overall system speed, while the integrated graphics engine controls how the HDMI port drives one or more monitors. Systems with 8 GB or more of memory run multi-window and multi-display workloads more smoothly than systems with 4 GB.
