What is the Intel Core i7 11th Gen CPU?
The Intel Core i7 11th Gen is a processor line codenamed Tiger Lake. Intel built it on the Willow Cove microarchitecture and manufactured it on its third-generation 10 nm process, known as 10SF (10 nm SuperFin). Tiger Lake processors target laptops, ultrabooks and portable systems, and Intel also has vPro, Xeon W-11000E and Celeron variants in the same generation.
Key Specifications
Tiger Lake processors use the 10 nm SuperFin process and Willow Cove cores. Intel positions the 11th Gen mid-range power classes at 45/35 W and 25 W. The i7 model on this page is the Core i7-1255U, which is a 12th Gen processor, not an 11th Gen part. The table below compares the two generations for reference.
| Feature | Core i7 11th Gen (Tiger Lake) | Core i7-1255U (12th Gen, used in Thinvent products) |
|---|---|---|
| Codename | Tiger Lake | Alder Lake |
| Process / microarchitecture | 10 nm SuperFin, Willow Cove | Intel 7 process family, hybrid cores |

Use Cases
Tiger Lake chips suit ultrabooks and portable laptops, where battery life and compact design matter. Industrial and embedded systems often need processors with long availability and stable performance in a small footprint, which is why Intel's vPro and Xeon W-11000E variants exist in the same generation.
Thinvent Products Using Intel Core i7 Processors
The Thinvent range does not include 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors. Thinvent instead has 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1255U processors (10 cores, up to 4.7 GHz, 12 MB cache) in the Aero Mini PC, Treo Mini PC and IPC5 Industrial PC. These systems include dual LAN, DDR4 memory options from 4 GB to 64 GB, SSD storage from 32 GB to 1 TB, and a 12V 7A adapter. Operating system and WiFi options vary by model, covering Thinux, Ubuntu Linux, Windows 11 Pro, DOS and no OS.
