What Is the IMB-X1317?
The IMB-X1317 is a Micro ATX industrial motherboard built around Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 2 processors (Arrow Lake-S) on the Intel W880 chipset. It is designed for workstation-class and edge AI workloads that need high memory bandwidth, PCIe 5.0 expansion and long-life industrial supply. A variant, the IMB-X1317-10G, adds a Marvell 10G LAN controller for data-intensive deployments.

Note that published memory ceilings vary by source: ASRock Industrial lists up to 192 GB (48 GB per DIMM) on one specification sheet and up to 256 GB (64 GB per DIMM) on another. Always confirm the exact configuration with your supplier before designing around a memory figure.
Why Arrow Lake-S Suits Edge AI
Edge AI workloads — machine vision, video analytics, anomaly detection on production lines, local inference for robotics — need three things from a platform: fast memory to feed large models, high-bandwidth PCIe lanes for GPU or accelerator cards, and enough I/O to ingest cameras and sensors. Arrow Lake-S with DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 addresses all three. The Gen5 x16 slot can host a discrete accelerator, while the Gen5 x8 and dual Gen4 x4 slots handle capture cards, NVMe storage or further expansion. ECC memory support matters in industrial settings where a single uncorrected bit error can corrupt an inspection result.
Typical Applications
-
Machine vision and quality inspection — multiple camera feeds processed locally with low latency.
-
Video analytics and surveillance — on-premises inference without sending footage to the cloud.
-
Robotics and motion control — deterministic I/O plus accelerator cards for perception stacks.
-
Industrial data aggregation — 10GbE variants for backhauling high-volume sensor or imaging data.
-
Medical and scientific imaging — ECC memory and workstation-class compute in a Micro ATX footprint.
Thinvent's Products Featuring This Technology
Thinvent builds industrial computers, mini PCs, thin clients and all-in-one PCs that bring this class of platform into a finished, deployment-ready system. Our industrial PCs pair Intel® Core™ processors with fanless or actively cooled chassis, wide-temperature operation, dual Gigabit Ethernet, multiple serial ports and long-life supply — so you can standardise on one hardware family from the plant floor to the control room. If your project needs an Arrow Lake-S class board integrated into a rugged enclosure, or a lower-power Intel Core i3/i5 alternative for lighter edge tasks, Thinvent's range covers both ends of that spectrum. Talk to us about configuration, OS image and lifecycle commitments.
