Rugged Computing for Every Deployment

Thinvent builds industrial computers, mini PCs, thin clients and all-in-one PCs engineered for continuous, unattended operation. Every platform is designed around three priorities: silent fanless cooling where the chassis allows it, wide-voltage DC input tolerant of unstable mains and battery supplies, and long lifecycle availability so a model you qualify today can still be ordered years from now. The range spans compact Celeron and Intel N-series mini PCs for light duty tasks, up to Intel Core i3 and i5 industrial PCs for heavier multi-application workloads.

Platform Architecture

Industrial systems differ from office desktops in how they handle power, thermals and I/O. Thinvent industrial PCs accept 12V DC input through a locking barrel or terminal-block connector, use solid-state storage only, and expose legacy interfaces such as DB9 RS-232/RS-485 serial ports that modern consumer hardware has dropped. That combination matters on factory floors, in kiosks and in remote cabinets where USB-to-serial adapters are a failure point rather than a convenience.

Class Typical Processor Memory Storage Best Suited To
Mini PC Intel Celeron / N-series 4–16 GB 128–512 GB SSD Digital signage, kiosks, edge gateways
Thin Client Intel Celeron / N-series 4–8 GB 128–256 GB SSD VDI, RDP, cloud desktops, call centres
Industrial PC Intel Core i3 / i5 8–32 GB 256 GB–1 TB SSD SCADA, HMI, machine control, data logging
All-in-One PC Intel Core i3 / i5 8–16 GB 256–512 GB SSD Point-of-sale, reception, shop-floor terminals

Operating System Options

Thinvent systems ship with a choice of software stacks so the device matches your management model rather than the other way round. Microsoft Windows 11 Pro is the default for full desktop applications and domain-joined environments. Ubuntu Linux 24.04 LTS and Thinux™ Embedded Linux cover headless, appliance-style and open-source deployments. FreeDOS and no-OS configurations are available for customers who image their own builds or run a real-time operating system.

Where These Systems Are Used

Deployments typically fall into one of four patterns: a shop-floor terminal reading from PLCs and serial instruments, a thin client replacing a full desktop in a managed VDI estate, a fanless mini PC driving a 24/7 digital sign, or an all-in-one PC at a counter where cabling and space are constrained. Common requirements across all four are reliable operation without a fan to clog with dust, 1 GbE networking for plant or office LANs, dual HDMI output for mirrored or extended displays, and enough USB 3.2 Gen 2 and USB-C ports for scanners, cameras and instrumentation.

Thinvent's Range

Thinvent manufactures across all four form factors, so a single supplier can cover a mixed estate. Industrial PCs in the IPC series pair Intel Core i3 and i5 processors with generous DDR4 memory, large SSDs and optional quad DB9 serial configurations for multi-instrument installations. Mini PCs and thin clients cover the volume end of the range where low power draw and silent operation matter more than peak throughput. All-in-one PCs integrate the display to reduce on-site cabling. Every model is available with Windows 11 Pro, Ubuntu Linux, Thinux™ Embedded Linux
