What "Lekha" Means for a Computer Buyer

In Hindi and Sanskrit, lekha (लेखा) means account, ledger, record or written entry — the same root that gives us lekhaankan (accounting) and lekhak (writer). When someone searches for a lekha system in a business context, they are almost always asking about the machine that runs their books: billing counters, GST/VAT entry desks, inventory registers, payroll sheets and daily transaction ledgers. In practical terms, a "lekha computer" is the small, always-on desktop that sits at the accounts desk and keeps the numbers moving.

A dedicated accounting or billing terminal has a very different duty cycle from a home PC. It boots early, runs for ten to twelve hours, and is expected to stay stable while a cashier or accountant makes hundreds of rapid keyboard entries. That makes reliability, low heat output and a fast SSD far more important than a high clock speed or a discrete graphics card.
