Many buyers use the term for systems that run lighter workloads at lower power and with fewer moving parts. The Thinvent Neo S range is a thin client line built on the Intel Celeron J1900 processor, which fits this type of use.
The Neo S thin client uses an Intel J1900 processor from the 7th generation Celeron series. The processor has 4 cores, a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz and 2 MB of cache. Memory options are 4 GB or 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. Storage options are 32 GB MLC SSD, dual 32 GB MLC SSDs, 128 GB SSD or 256 GB SSD, depending on the model.

Use Cases and Applications
Thin clients suit tasks that run on a server or in the cloud. Common uses include point of sale terminals, kiosks, digital signage, office desktops, call centre workstations and classroom computers. Because the systems use low power and have no moving parts, they fit where space, noise and maintenance are limits.
Buyers can choose the operating system for each unit. Options include Ubuntu Linux, Windows 11 Pro, Thinux Embedded Linux and DOS. Units without an operating system let customers install their own software.
Choosing the Right Configuration
Choose 8 GB of memory when the unit runs several applications at once. Choose 4 GB for single-purpose terminals. Choose a larger SSD when the unit stores local files or runs a full Windows installation. The Neo S models use a 19V adapter rated at 1.3A or 3A, so check the adapter rating before you deploy units with more storage devices.
The Thinvent range does not include Wi-Fi on the Neo S models. Use a wired network connection for these units.
