What is an NPU?
A neural processing unit (NPU) is a processor built to run neural network and deep learning workloads. An NPU can be a standalone chip, or it can be part of a central processing unit (CPU) or a graphics processing unit (GPU).
Intel Core i7-1255U and NPU support
The Intel Core i7-1255U is a 12th generation Intel Core i7 processor. It has 10 cores, a maximum frequency of up to 4.7 GHz, and 12 MB of cache. The i7-1255U is not a Core Ultra processor, and the Thinvent range does not include an NPU-equipped Intel Core Ultra processor. Buyers who need an on-chip NPU should look at Intel Core Ultra processors, which have a built-in Intel NPU.
