What is a rugged fanless PC?
A rugged fanless PC is an industrial computer that has no cooling fan. It removes heat through a sealed metal chassis. Because it has no moving fans, it has no fan bearings to wear out and no air intake to draw in dust. This design suits factory floors, outdoor kiosks, transport systems and other sites where dust, vibration or temperature swings are common.
Key specifications
The Thinvent industrial PC range uses 12th Generation Intel® Core™ processors. The range includes the Core i3-1215U, Core i5-1240P and Core i7-1255U. The IPC5 models use the Core i5-1240P and Core i7-1255U. They have 12 cores in the i5 and 10 cores in the i7. Maximum frequency reaches 4.4 GHz on the i5 and 4.7 GHz on the i7. The IPC5 models support 16 GB to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM and 512 GB to 1 TB of SSD storage. The IPC3 model uses the Core i3-1215U with 6 cores, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage.
Some IPC5 models include Dual LAN ports. Dual Band WiFi is available on selected models. Operating system options include Windows 11 Pro, Windows 11 IoT Value, Ubuntu Linux, or no operating system.

Use cases
Rugged fanless PCs run machine control, data logging, and human-machine interface (HMI) software. They also run digital signage, kiosk systems, and edge computing tasks. Their sealed design suits environments with dust, humidity or constant vibration. The 12V power input suits systems that run on vehicle or industrial DC supplies.
Thinvent fanless industrial and thin client products
Thinvent builds fanless industrial PCs in the IPC3 and IPC5 series, with Intel 12th Generation Core processors and 12V 7A power adapters. The Thinvent Micro 5R Thin Client uses an ARM Cortex A53 processor with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB eMMC storage, and runs Thinux™ Embedded Linux. The Thinvent Micro 6 Pro Mini PC uses an ARM Cortex A55 processor with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB eMMC storage, with Dual Antenna WiFi. Choose an IPC5 for higher performance, or a Micro model for low-power edge tasks.
