A rugged Windows tablet is a touch-screen computer built to keep working in harsh conditions such as dust, vibration, heat and wide temperature changes. Thinvent does not list a tablet in this range. The Thinvent range includes the IPC3 industrial PC, a rugged, fanless Windows 11 Pro computer that suits the same field and factory tasks a rugged tablet would handle, such as data collection, machine control and operator terminals.
The IPC3 runs the Intel® Core™ i3-1215U processor. This 12th Generation chip has 6 cores, a maximum frequency of 4.4 GHz and 10 MB of cache. Each unit includes 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 1 TB SSD for storage.
Power comes from a 12V DC adapter. The range has 5A, 7A and 10A adapter options, so buyers can match the supply to their installation.
Connectivity varies by model. Some units have no WiFi, and others have Dual Band WiFi. Some units add Quad DB9 Serial ports for connecting legacy industrial equipment.
Typical uses include:
-
Machine monitoring and control on the factory floor
-
Data logging and recording at remote or outdoor sites
-
Operator interfaces where a standard tablet would not last
-
Serial-connected instruments and automation equipment
