A thin client is a compact computer that runs applications and processes from a central server. It needs little local processing, so it can be small, quiet and low in power use. The Thinvent thin client range includes two platforms: an ARM-based model and Intel Celeron J1900 models.
The Thinvent Micro 5R Thin Client uses an ARM Cortex A53 processor with 4 cores and a maximum frequency of 2.0 GHz. It has 2 GB of onboard RAM, 16 GB of eMMC storage and WiFi 6 with Bluetooth. It runs Thinux, an embedded Linux operating system. It has one HDMI 2.0 output and one speaker output.
The Thinvent Neo S Thin Client uses an Intel Celeron J1900 processor from the 7th generation. It has 4 cores, a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz and 2 MB of cache. The Neo S models come with 4 GB or 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. Storage options include 32 GB MLC SSD, 128 GB SSD and 256 GB SSD, and some models have two 32 GB MLC SSDs. The Neo S models do not include WiFi. The operating system depends on the model: Ubuntu Linux, Thinux Embedded Linux, Windows 11 Pro, DOS, or no operating system.
| Feature | Micro 5R | Neo S |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | ARM Cortex A53, 4 cores | Intel Celeron J1900, 4 cores |

Thin clients suit offices, call centres, retail points of sale, kiosks, digital signage and classrooms. Buyers who need wireless connectivity and a low-power device can choose the Micro 5R. Buyers who need more memory, larger storage or a choice of Windows or Linux can choose a Neo S model.
