What Is a Dual LAN Mini PC?

A dual LAN mini PC is a compact desktop computer fitted with two independent Ethernet ports instead of the single network jack found on most consumer desktops. The two ports let the machine sit on two separate networks at the same time — for example, one port connected to a corporate LAN and the other to a machine network, a guest VLAN, or a dedicated industrial control subnet. Because the network interfaces are physically separate, traffic never has to share a single uplink, and the two networks stay isolated from each other at the hardware level.

The "mini PC" part refers to the form factor: a small, low-power chassis that typically mounts behind a monitor, inside a control cabinet, or on a DIN rail. These systems generally run fanless or near-fanless cooling, use soldered or SO-DIMM memory, and draw power from a compact 12V or 19V adapter — making them practical where a full tower PC would be too large, too hot, or too noisy.

Why Two Ethernet Ports Matter

The value of dual LAN is mostly about separation and continuity:
