Fanless Thin Clients for Quiet, Reliable RDP Terminals
A fanless thin client runs without a cooling fan. It removes heat through a passive heatsink in the chassis. Because it has no moving parts in the cooling path, it makes no fan noise and has fewer parts that can wear out. This suits quiet offices, reception desks, classrooms and clean rooms, where a remote desktop terminal must run continuously without noise.
Thin clients connect to a server or virtual desktop over RDP and other remote display protocols. The device runs only the connection client and the display, so the processing happens on the server. The Thinvent range covers two processor families. The Thinvent Micro 5R uses an ARM Cortex A53 processor with 4 cores running up to 2.0 GHz, 2 GB of onboard RAM, 16 GB of eMMC storage, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth. It runs Thinux embedded Linux. The Thinvent Neo S uses an Intel Celeron J1900 processor with 4 cores running up to 2.4 GHz and a 2 MB cache. Neo S models come with 4 GB or 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB of SSD storage. They have no WiFi. Operating system options include Windows 11 Pro, Ubuntu Linux, DOS, Thinux embedded Linux, or no operating system.

Choose the Micro 5R when a compact device with WiFi is needed. Choose the Neo S when the workload needs an x86 processor, more RAM, or a Windows 11 Pro image.
Typical Applications
Fanless thin clients suit RDP and VDI terminals in offices, call centres, libraries, hospitals and retail counters. They also suit kiosk and display use where fan noise is unwanted. The Micro 5R has one HDMI 2.0 output and one speaker output, which supports single-screen desktop and audio use.
