Arm Single Board Computers With SATA
An Arm single board computer with SATA is a compact board that runs an Arm processor and includes a SATA interface for connecting a storage drive. The SATA connection lets the board use a standard hard drive or SSD for mass storage. Industrial buyers use these boards in embedded systems, digital signage, kiosks and edge gateways.
The SBC-A510 from Compulab is one example of this type. It is a mini-ATX compliant single board computer. It uses a CM-A510 module for most of its functions and an SB-A510 carrier board for standard connectors and peripherals. The board uses a Marvell Armada 510 SoC running at 1000 MHz, 1 GB of DDR3 memory and 512 MB of NAND flash. It includes a SATA hard-drive interface, two 1000BaseT Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0 host ports, PCI Express and PCI extension interfaces, and a 1920 x 1080 graphics controller. Its power input is 7 V to 17 V DC, at 3 to 8 W.
Single board computers with SATA are sourced from several manufacturers, including Advantech, AAEON and Kontron. Form factors range from 2.5-inch boards to Mini-ITX. When comparing boards, check the processor, memory, storage interfaces, I/O count, power input and the operating system support that your software needs.
Thinvent Range
The Thinvent range does not include a single board computer with a SATA interface. The Thinvent products on this page are Arm-based thin clients and mini PCs that use ARM Cortex A53 and Cortex A55 processors, with eMMC storage rather than SATA:
-
Thinvent Micro 5R Thin Client: ARM Cortex A53, 4 cores up to 2.0 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB eMMC, WiFi 6, Bluetooth, HDMI 2.0, Thinux embedded Linux.
-
Thinvent Micro 6 Pro Mini PC: ARM Cortex A55, 4 cores up to 1.9 GHz, 1 MB cache, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC, dual antenna WiFi, HDMI, Thinux embedded Linux.
Both models are available with a VESA mount, an HDMI to VGA cable, or a Thinvent keyboard and mouse set.
