Fanless Servers Explained
A fanless server is a computer that runs without a cooling fan. Heat leaves the chassis through the metal housing, which acts as a heatsink. Because there are no moving parts for cooling, a fanless server makes no fan noise, uses less dust-prone airflow, and has fewer parts that wear out. This design suits factory floors, kiosks, control cabinets, and other sites where dust, vibration, or noise are a concern.
Key Specifications
Thinvent fanless industrial PCs use Intel Core processors in the 12th generation range. The IPC5 series includes the Core i5-1240P (12 cores, up to 4.4 GHz, 12 MB cache) and the Core i7-1255U (10 cores, up to 4.7 GHz, 12 MB cache). The IPC3 series includes the Core i3-1215U (6 cores, up to 4.4 GHz, 10 MB cache). Memory options range from 8 GB to 64 GB DDR4, and storage options range from 256 GB to 1 TB SSD. A 12V 7A adapter powers the units. Dual LAN and Dual Band WiFi are available on selected models.

Use Cases
Fanless servers are used for machine control, data logging, edge computing, digital signage, point-of-sale systems, and building automation. The Micro 5R and Micro 6 Pro run Thinux embedded Linux and suit low-power, always-on tasks. The IPC5 and IPC3 run Windows 11 or Ubuntu Linux and suit tasks that need more processing power, such as machine vision and multi-application control.
Thinvent Fanless Industrial PCs and Thin Clients
Thinvent has a range of fanless systems for industrial and commercial use. The range includes the IPC3 and IPC5 industrial PCs with Intel Core processors, and the Micro 5R thin client and Micro 6 Pro mini PC with ARM processors. Each model is available with different memory, storage, networking, and operating system options to match the workload.
