What Is an Industrial PC?
An industrial PC (IPC) is a computing platform engineered to keep running where a standard office desktop would not survive: factory floors, machine control cabinets, kiosk enclosures, warehouse terminals, outdoor cabinets, and vehicles. The difference is not just ruggedness — it is predictability. An IPC is designed for continuous duty cycles, wide input tolerances, long-term component availability, and mounting options that let it live inside the equipment it controls rather than on a desk beside it.
Industrial computers typically trade a conventional ATX power supply and a spinning chassis fan for a wide-range DC input (commonly 12 V or 9–36 V) and a sealed, passively cooled enclosure. That means no dust ingestion through fan intakes, no bearing wear as a failure point, and no need for filtered air
