An industrial PC (IPC) is a computing platform engineered for continuous operation in environments where a standard office desktop would quickly fail — factory floors, outdoor kiosks, warehouses, vehicles, and utility cabinets. The difference is not simply a metal chassis. Industrial computers are built around wide-temperature components, fanless passive cooling, isolated power inputs, watchdog timers, and long-lifecycle supply guarantees so that a machine deployed today can still be serviced and replaced five to ten years from now.
The core design decision is thermal. Because a fan draws dust, metal particles, and humidity into the enclosure, fanless industrial PCs use the chassis itself as a heat sink.
