What is a micro thin client?
A micro thin client is a small, fanless computer that runs applications and a desktop from a central server or cloud service. It does little local processing. The user works through a keyboard, mouse and display, while the main software runs elsewhere. Because the unit has few moving parts and a small footprint, it fits behind a monitor, under a desk or inside a kiosk.
Key specifications
The Thinvent Neo S thin client uses the Intel® processor J1900. This processor has 4 cores, a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz and 2 MB of cache. The unit includes 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 128 GB SSD for storage. It ships with a 19V 1.3A power adapter. The unit does not include WiFi.

Operating system options
The Neo S is available with several operating systems. The choices are Windows 11 IoT, Windows 11 Pro, DOS and Thinux™ Embedded Linux. Windows 11 IoT suits embedded and kiosk deployments. Windows 11 Pro suits general office use. Thinux™ Embedded Linux suits buyers who prefer an open-source platform. DOS suits legacy software.
Use cases
Micro thin clients are used in offices, call centres, retail point-of-sale, digital signage, classrooms, libraries and reception desks. They suit deployments where many identical endpoints must be managed from one location. A buyer can add a keyboard and mouse set when the unit is ordered, which removes the need to source peripherals separately.
