What "nslookup" Means in a Network Operations Context
nslookup is a name server lookup utility — a command-line tool that queries the Domain Name System (DNS) to translate human-readable hostnames into IP addresses (and back again). It is available by default on Windows, Linux and macOS, and it is one of the first things a network administrator reaches for when a machine cannot reach a service, when a new domain has been deployed, or when DNS records need to be verified against a specific server.
