Pendriver 3

What Is a Pendrive 3?

A pendrive 3 is a USB flash drive that uses the USB 3.0 standard, also written as USB 3.x. It connects to a USB 3.0 port and transfers data much faster than USB 2.0 drives. The "3" refers to the USB 3 interface generation, not a product model. Pendrives are used to move files, install operating systems, back up small data sets and carry tools between computers.

Key Specifications to Check

When you choose a pendrive 3, compare these details:

  • Interface: USB 3.0 or USB 3.2 for the fastest transfers. The port on the host computer must also support USB 3.

  • Capacity: Common sizes range from 16 GB to 512 GB or more. Choose a size that fits your largest file set.

  • Read and write speed: Listed in MB/s. Higher figures reduce the time needed to copy large files.

  • Physical design: Compact sticks, retractable designs and rugged metal housings are all available.

Typical Uses

  • Moving documents, photos and video between computers

  • Creating bootable media for installing Windows or Linux

  • Carrying portable applications and utilities

  • Offline backup of important files

Pendrive 3 and Industrial Computing

Industrial and embedded systems often rely on USB storage for updates, data logging and configuration. The Thinvent range does not include a dedicated pendrive. Its industrial and mini PCs include USB 3.x ports, so a standard USB 3 pendrive can be connected for these tasks. The Thinvent Industrial PC IPC5 and IPC3, the Aero Mini PC and the Treo Mini PC provide the USB ports used for this purpose.
