What Makes an Industrial PC Different?
An industrial PC (IPC) is a computer engineered for continuous, unattended operation in environments that would quickly damage a consumer desktop — factory floors, control cabinets, kiosks, vehicles, warehouses and outdoor enclosures. The differences are structural rather than cosmetic: fanless thermal design that keeps dust and conductive particles out of the chassis, wide-voltage DC inputs that tolerate noisy factory power, watchdog timers that recover a locked system automatically, and long-term component availability so the same machine can be reordered years later.

Processor choice follows the workload. Intel N-series chips such as the N100 and N150 suit always-on control and gateway duties with very low power draw, while 12th and 13th generation Core i3 and i5 parts — for example the i3-1215U with 6 cores, up to 4.4 GHz and 10 MB cache — are the right pick when the machine also has to run vision software, multiple browser-based dashboards or a local database.
