Thin Clients for VMware Horizon
VMware Horizon is a virtual desktop platform. A thin client connects to a Horizon desktop, and the desktop runs on a server in the data center. Thinvent has the Neo S and Micro 5R thin clients for this use. Each model runs a different operating system, so buyers can choose a model that fits their Horizon setup.
Horizon Client for Windows needs a supported Microsoft Windows operating system. The client also needs .NET Desktop Runtime for Windows x64 version 6.0 or later. The Horizon Client installer installs a recent version of this runtime. The Neo S models with Windows 11 Pro run a Windows operating system. Buyers who plan to install Horizon Client on Windows should confirm that the operating system and the runtime meet the Horizon requirements.
The Neo S range uses the Intel Celeron J1900 processor. It has 4 cores, a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz and 2 MB of cache. Memory options are 4 GB or 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. Storage options include 32 GB MLC SSD, 128 GB SSD and 256 GB SSD. Operating system choices are Windows 11 Pro, Ubuntu Linux, DOS, Thinux Embedded Linux, or no operating system. None of the Neo S models includes WiFi.
The Micro 5R uses the ARM Cortex A53 processor with 4 cores at up to 2.0 GHz. It has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of eMMC storage. It includes WiFi 6 and Bluetooth, one HDMI 2.0 port and one speaker output. It runs Thinux Embedded Linux.
