What Is a VDI Thin Client?
A VDI thin client is a compact endpoint device used to connect to a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). Instead of running applications and storing data locally, the thin client opens a remote session to a virtual desktop hosted on a central server or in the cloud. All processing, storage and security policy live in the data centre; the endpoint simply renders the screen, accepts keyboard and mouse input, and forwards USB and audio traffic. How VDI Thin Clients Work
The endpoint runs a small, locked-down operating system — typically a hardened Linux build or Windows IoT — plus a connection broker client.
