Veea

What Is Veea?

Veea Inc. is a technology company that provides computing, multi-access multiprotocol communications, edge storage and cybersecurity solutions. Its core offering is the VeeaONE distributed edge platform, together with the VeeaHub family of smart computing hubs. VeeaHubs are positioned as edge servers that combine the functions of a wireless router, an IoT gateway and a local server into a single cloud-managed unit, deployable either standalone or as part of a mesh network. Alongside the platform, Veea markets vertical solutions such as VigiLynx™, AirLynx™, MetaLynx™, SecureConnect™ and TerraFabric™, plus applications including TROLLEE (a smart shopping cart platform) and Veea AdEdge (an advertising platform).

How an Edge Platform Is Structured

Edge platforms generally separate the software layer from the hardware layer. In Veea's case, the VeeaONE platform layer remains consistent across deployments, while the on-site hardware is a VeeaHub or a qualified edge system chosen according to the connectivity, compute, storage and environmental requirements of the site. The VeeaHub range includes the STAX®, Pro and Pro S, and Outdoor and Outdoor S variants — the outdoor models addressing sites that need hardened enclosures and wider temperature tolerance. Typical capabilities across such edge hubs include Wi-Fi and 4G/5G wireless connectivity, IoT protocol handling, local data processing and storage, and centralized cloud management of many nodes.

Typical Edge Computing Use Cases

Edge computing hardware is deployed where data must be processed close to where it is generated — for latency, bandwidth, privacy or network-resilience reasons. Common applications include smart buildings and building management systems, retail analytics and digital signage, industrial IoT and machine data collection, video surveillance and analytics at the camera site, remote and branch office networking, and content delivery. In many of these projects the edge hub is only one part of the architecture: serial devices, PLCs, cameras, sensors and legacy equipment still need a local x86 host, protocol conversion, or a reliable operator interface.

Selecting Edge Hardware for a Deployment

When specifying edge hardware, the deciding factors are usually the workload profile, the I/O required, mounting
