Crew status refers to the condition or classification of a ship's crew. A ship's crew is generally divided into four main categories: the deck department, the engineering department, the steward's department, and other roles. Each category carries its own responsibilities that are part of running a seafaring vessel. The term CREW, as defined by Merriam-Webster, means the whole company belonging to a ship, sometimes including the officers and master, and it can also refer to one who assists the skipper of a sailboat.
