What Is a Touch Screen PC?
A touch screen PC is a complete computer — processor, memory, storage and operating system — that is operated through a display you touch directly, either instead of or alongside a keyboard and mouse. The two most common builds are the all-in-one touch PC, where the computer board sits behind the display in a single sealed housing, and the touch-ready industrial PC or mini PC, where a standard fanless box drives a separate touchscreen over HDMI/DisplayPort for video and USB for the touch sensor. Both approaches remove the separate monitor-plus-tower arrangement, which saves counter space and eliminates cable clutter in public-facing and shop-floor installations.
Key Specifications and Technical Details
What separates a consumer tablet from a genuine touch screen PC is the panel technology and the durability of the enclosure. Commercial touch PCs use industrial-grade panels rated for continuous duty, wide operating temperatures, and high touch-cycle counts, and they are usually designed for panel, VESA or wall mounting.
